Commonwealth Games 2010.

AR Rahman was approached to compose the title theme track for India’s Commonwealth Games 2010 this year. Both fans and politician VijayKumar Malhotra board member of the Organising Committee claimed “we expected a better song from Rahman.” The former sports minister Shahnawaz Hussain was hugely disappointed and felt let down after he heard AR’s theme song titled “Swagatham” released on Monday 28^th August which was composed for India’s upcoming Commonwealth Games 2010. He said “the track simply does not excite me”. Seems like Rahman who has taken six months to compose this tune which potentially takes 10 minutes to compose &  has more work to do then he thought.

 

The theme track doesn’t seem to be pleasing crowds here in the UK or in India either.  The potential message behind the lyrics suggest “O’ Yaaro, India bula liya” (friends we have called you to India) is supposedly not appealing enough to melt hearts, seems like the Oscar winner is losing his touch. The track is said to be too slow, lacks the Indian touch, isn’t catchy enough and has no feel to it. Social networking sites such as facebook has attracted fans who have expressed mixed feelings both good and bad. Chairman Suresh Kalmadi was asked to comment on the theme song and said” I like the song”.

Well apart from Suresh there doesn’t seem to be many takers who share the same view.

Mr Hussain has demanded that Rahman who has been paid Rs.5 crore to Re-work the song again after hearing the South African FIFA World Cup 2010 theme song ‘WAKA WAKA’ sung by exceptional US singer Shakira. ‘Waka Waka’ has it all, the right punch rhythm and lyrics; well folks what else would you expect from the outstanding vocalist shakira shakira.

Rahman has agreed to recompose the track which will be ready in 10 days tweaking it were possible. Well who wouldn’t, for the substantial amount he’s has been paid for it??

Shahnawaz was hoping Rahman’s track would be a huge hit. Let’s hope this time round Rahman strikes a high note!!

Yeh hai Jalwa! Salman ka Jalwa! Soon to drop Dabanng on us, which is getting very positive responses with its already hit soundtrack, Salman gave a demo of his power while promoting the movie in Rajasthan this week by giving a pupils from a Jaipur college, the day off??

Amongst all the screaming and fainting over the young hot stud, Salman asked the students what they wanted and they asked for a day off college? So Salman being Salman puts the request in to the  college principal who turns around as said yes!!

Now the star might have been joking around with the request, but it went down a treat when it was taken seriously. The college principal declared a holiday and Salman becomes a super hit for Jaipurs Engineering students. Seems like his ”tash” has not only intimidated the world but the Collegue Principal as well.

We wonder what Super-Man will do next!

Bebo shimmered in a red and black outfit at the I Am She 2010: Miss Universe India Pageant event at The National Centre Performing Arts, Mumbai, on Friday, May 28.

Ushoshi Sengupta, 21, was declared the winner at the run-up pageant finale organized by Sushmita Sen’s production company named, Tantra Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (TEPL).

Tantra is the licensee for Miss Universe India Pageant 2010. The winner will be the official representative of India at the Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant at Las Vegas, Nevada in August.

Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori, were in the capital for the promotion of their latest release Kites, when they were mobbed at Noida Mall.

The duo arrived at The Great India Place Mall in Noida to promote Kites, which hit theatres on Friday.

 Hrithik was to arrive post the press conference however Hrithik and Barbara were mobbed by the unruly crowd. “The crowd  pushed the actors trying to get pictures and autographs. Barbara even bruised her knees,” he said.

“The security was unable to deal with screaming fans,” he added.

More than thousand people had gathered in the mall to get a glimpse of the actors.

Hrithik recently halted traffic in New York when he sprinted across 42nd Street to meet his eager fans who were thrilled and over excited to see him run for them!

Stars from 'Its A Wonderful Afterlife'

Before Gurinder Chadha started filming It’s A Wonderful Afterlife in London last year, she gave her script to Karan Johar to read. The writer-director wanted his opinion. Luckily for her, Karan absolutely loved the script. Reveals an elated Gurinder, “He told me that I must make the film.” In fact, Gurinder pays a tribute of sorts to her good friend, as a line from the title track of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has been used at a comic juncture in the film

 As luck would have it, Karan was also one of the first industry persons to watch the film, which opened on 23rd April in the UK. He watched it at a cinema in London, where he had stopped over for a day on his way to Los Angeles.

Incidentally, Gurinder was flown down to Mumbai by the film’s co-producers and Indian distributors, Studio 18 on the 23rd. “We probably crossed each other’s paths in the sky,” laughed Gurinder whose English language film (the original) and also its dubbed Hindi version, Hai Marjawaan!, are both due for an Indian release on May 7.”I’ve seen the the original English version so many times that I’ve lost count. It’s the most Indian film I’ve ever made. I’m sure that people are going to love it. I’m actually looking forward to watching the dubbed version, Hai Marjawaan!, on Friday,” she adds.The audience should be careful about checking which version (English or Hindi) they’re going to watch before buying cinema tickets. Both the versions release theatrically in India this week.

Amitabh Bachchan has revealed that he urgently needs surgery because he has two hernias which are causing pain.

The actor, who has been avoiding surgery for a while claimed that the hernias cause him severe pain when he moves.

“There are now two urgent hernia in the lower abdomen which have swelled up dangerously and cause me problems,” Bachchan posted on his blog Bigb.bigadda.com.

“Sharp pains when I stand for too long or walk too much. During dance and action scenes there is huge pain and I counter that with a hernia belt which is temporary and not really a cure.

“So the doctors have been after me for a surgery, well two actually on either side of the abdomen and I have been avoiding it because of my busy schedule. But I shall have to take care of it now.

“Because of the several times that the stomach has been opened up, there are lesions, and they at times stick and cause problems.”

Prakash Jha has cast Katrina Kaif alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn in his latest movie!

Kaif recently worked with Jha on the film Raajneeti, was reportedly so impressed with the actress that he asked her to appear in his new movie Aarakshan.

The film is set to look into issues surrounding job reservation in India and is set against an academic backdrop in india.

Bachchan plays a teacher, who has apparently been inspired by his late father Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

It seems that director Vipul Shah had no idea that the number of costumes had zoomed up so high. He only realised what had happened when there were issues with space to keep all the outfits. Well, we hope they didn’t run out of money while spending on all those clothes.

Its all happening this April 2010! The Indian tennis star and the Pakistani cricketer will be based in Dubai after they wed.

 

It’s a match across borders and sports, as one of India’s top tennis players Sania Mirza will be getting married to Shoaib Mailk, the former cricket captain of Pakistan. The news has been confirmed by Sania’s father, Imran Mirza. He has also said that after the marriage, the couple will be based in Dubai.
 

It is believed that the wedding will happen in India while the reception will be held in Pakistan.

Have we missed the point here? She got to see her Idol, fullfilled her dream because of Salman Khan who we’re sure had more charities to help and more wishes to fullfill and bagged a picture with one of the Hottest actors on the Planet?

Notices have also been issued to Vijay Galani, Veer’s producer and director, and to the tabloid.

Ilahi said in April 2009, she and her family had visited Salman’s home in Bandra, where the actor also posed with her for a photograph. She said that she was shocked to see that photograph alongside a story titled, ‘Dildar Salman Khan’, (Yeah, as if Salman told the Mubai Tabloid to title it that) in the tabloid.

 Khan even stated in the story that he had helped Ilahi by giving her Rs1 lakh. “Not a single penny was given to her,” said Ilahi’s cousel?

Now we know Salman would have stuck to his word, he’s known for it – he even promotes it in his film!

Katrina Katrina said that there was nothing to be made of her meeting with Shah Rukh, and that he was an acquaintance and a senior colleague. She added that just because you meet and greet someone, doesn’t mean that there has to be speculation about what’s going on.

Kareena Kapoor has become the highest taxpayer among all actresses in Bollywood, a source said on Friday (March 19).

 

While what she paid has not been disclosed, it has been said that the 29-year-old coughed up a staggering amount to the income tax department.

“Kareena is a style icon and powerhouse performer. She is distinctive and has a loyal base fan which only seems to be growing. Her increasing body of work as a star and popularity with brands reflects in the taxes she’s paid for 2009-10,” said a source.

Last year, Kareena was seen in films like ‘Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’, ‘Kurbaan’ and ‘3 Idiots’.

Actress Kareena Kapoor is the latest Bollywood beauty to have caught the imagination of the people here as she stares out of hundreds of billboards in the city.

Firdous lawns, one of Pakistan’s leading textile manufacturers said it paid the actress around 30 million rupees to feature in their advertisement.

“There is nothing illegal about it. We made her an offer for the campaign and she liked the idea of advertising for a Pakistani company and she came down to Dubai for the shoots,” a spokesman of the company said.

 he billboards show the 27-year-old actress sporting dozens of different designs of the new lawn fabric of the company.

The company said that it opted to advertise their products with the Indian actress as she was a popular figure in Pakistan.

“She is like a breath of fresh air to Pakistan’s advertising agency,” the chief executive of a leading advertising agency, Prestige communications told PTI.

Bipasha Basu too has come out with her fitness DVD titled ‘BB Love Yourself’. The first release from Bips will be Fit & Fabulous, a do-it-yourself DVD devised for a 25-minute workout which promises to cut fat and tone up muscles.

Bipasha Basu, who has always been a fitness freak says, “Love yourself is my philosophy in life, hence the brand’s name. It is not a narcissist attitude (to use her initials) because I truly believe that we all must love ourselves before we set out to achieve anything, whether it’s a work goal or a relationship and the first step here is to get fit, as everyone wants to look good.”

Fitness is what Bipasha believes in and the entire concept of this DVD is hers inspired by this belief in health and fitness. “Films, fitness and fashion are my passions,” she says, “this is the first time that I will be doing something professional for the latter two. The focus is on health, and it has a scientific approach.”

INDIA’S ROCK LEGEND EHSAAN NOORANI, FROM SHANKAR EHSAAN LOY SPEAKS TO DESIMAG.CO.UK ABOUT HIS LATEST FILM. CHECK OUT WHAT HE HAD TO SAY?

Ehsaan Noorani is the famous Guitarist and music composer from the Trio Band better known as Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Ehsaan is not only known as just a guitarist but the guy has been labelled with the best ever ROCK GUITARIST from that side of the globe. He has worked with many music directors accompanying them on guitar before he started composing music himself.

Ehsaans roots are solid to the school of music becoming better known for his technical ability to play the guitar, lead him to being known as the Phenomenal ROCK player in the trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

Ehsaan’s love for music grew at a very young age from when he was at high school where he went on to specialise in becoming a guitarists; later, mastering the Guitar which paved the path he walks on today. Ehsaan has successfully contributed immensely to the bollywood industry he has won awards for his electrifying direction winning The National film Awards to the IIFA to FilmFare Awards  to the Star Screen Awards and more recent the Zee Awards, the list is endless.

The trio band have contributed towards some of India’s greatest cinema, (films you probably would not imagine were related to Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy).  Ehsaan and his team are now working on Zoya Akhtar’s film which is to be completed for release sometime during May this year.

Ash: You are known as the phenomenal Guitar player labelled the Rock Guy.

Ehsaan: Being a Guitar player, I think most guitar players are either, Rock guitar players or blue guitar players or jazz guitar players so I am known as a Rock guitar player from as early as high school the reason I got in to music was because of Rock Music hence the label I have been branded THE ROCK GUY. (laughs..)

Ash: With regards to the British music scene in the UK, Who would you like to Collaborate with?

Ehsaan: There is a bunch full of artists there’s Jay Sean I think there is a lot of artists we would like to work with, at present we haven’t stuck out and made any head  way in to that signature yet. But I guess that will happen soon, it’s just we have been so busy with the whole film thing, that we haven’t not even really pursued anything as such, but yes we are going to be doing some collaborations with some ‘R n B’ producers in America with people who work with Timberland  there’s some, interesting sets that have already happened.

DesiMag: You’re an ideal music composer in India, who has recently composed music for a commercial for Lux for Abhishak Bachchan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan. Will you be working with any more Big Stars or Celebrities in the future?

Ehsaan: We come from an advertising background as we have already done commercials long before we got in to films and even now we still do commercials all the time. This particular commercial received a large exposure because of Aishwariya Rai Bachchan and Abhishak bachchan.

Ash: You have more recently composed the Anthem for the Commonwealth games 2010 ‘Chalo Delhi’ how what was it like to experience that?

Ehsaan: We have composed this in Australia, more recently. It was a lot of fun we worked with the Lyricists Gulzar Saab which will now be used at the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi this year 2010. It all went down pretty well, it was a 2 weeks project it gave us a different kind of exposure.

Ash: What are you currently working on at the moment?

Ehsaan: Right now we working on a film which is untitled, it has been directed by Farhan Akhtar’s sister Zoya Akhtar who directed the film ‘Luck by Chance’, it’s a lovely script which we have been working on, fun kind of music and I guess it should be ready towards the end of the month. The film is said to be released sometime in May this year.

Ash: When are you next visiting the UK?

Ehsaan: We are actually waiting to hear news from UK regarding a concert.  I usually do visit London all the time for a vocation but I haven’t done so for the last couple of years due to my busy schedule regarding work out here. There’s currently some talks going on about some concerts we are planning so we might be performing in the UK and USA if that all works out, you shall see us on stage sometime this year.
